- Main Phrases to translate if you are just starting to translate the IPCop web admin interface. The Variable Names listed in this file are all taken from /var/ipcop/header.pl, and are used in menus etc. The IPCop Translation Database is the place to start. If you are translating the phrases, be aware that all the ones that start TR_ are used in the Installer, so if you are slowly working your way through the file, leave them till last.
Current Projects
IPCop
- IPCop is an open source firewall. I'm helping with the beta testing of version 1.4, and one of my tasks is to monitor changes in the
IPCop Language Database, and to add changes to CVS.
Blender
- Blender is great open source 3D modelling software. I'm helping to keep the
online manual up-to-date, which mainly involves sub-editing the documentation.
Linux Distribution Journey
- Started with Corel Linux, now defunct.
- Moved to Debian, but couldn't install it on my hardware.
- Tried Progeny Linux, also Debian based, but now defunct. Failed to detect my video card, so installation was a nightmare. I liked it when I finally succeeded.
- Tried Suse 7.3 Personal. Installed like a dream. But no Appletalk functionality. You need the Professional version...
- Now using Suse 7.3 Professional. It's good. Easy to install and upgrade. Some rough spots with KDE and X.
- Also tried Mandrake 9.0. It's good too. Easy to install.
- Also have a RedHat 7.3 box for building test versions of IPCop.
- Also have a Debian 3 box for Blender docbook work.
- Upgraded Suse to v9.0. Very nice. Easy to update and maintain. Personal favourite.
